Make a statement in your home with this dhurrie style rug. Handwoven in India using naturally dyed GOTS certified organic cotton. The making of The Campbell Collection's flat weave rugs help to support the cottage industry in Chunar. The cottage industry is an incredibly important sector in India. It provides those who live in rural areas with sustainable employment. Tim and Emma have partnered with weavers who work flexibly around their other responsibilities such as farming or caring for family. They are paid a fair wage for every meter woven and are able to come and go, weaving around a schedule that works for them.
Colour: Multi - Blue, Green and Pink
Designer: The Campbell Collection
Material: 100% Cotton
Size: 4' x 6' / 122cm x 183cm
Made in: Chunar, India
Method: This flat weave design is woven in organic cotton using a pit loom and is created by interlocking warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. Rugs woven using this method do not have a pile and are reversible. A pit loom is literally hung over a pit dug out of the ground, and provides a comfortable seating position for the weaver. The pit creates ideal conditions for cotton weaving as it responds much better to humid conditions, preventing the yarn from becoming brittle and snapping.
"We believe is time for us as global citizens to take stock, to think about the bigger picture and do things differently. As a brand we will continually strive to source materials and use processes that allow the earth to thrive and not just survive. Within our interior and lifestyle collections we have used organic cotton, organic linen, pure silk and recycled cotton paper.
Choosing to make products in a more thoughtful and slow way means that we are able to help create sustainable employment for artisans all over India." The Campbell Collection
