Wasting Less: Sustainability and Creative Reuse for Zero Waste Week

Wasting Less: Sustainability and Creative Reuse for Zero Waste Week

We’re celebrating something important in our calendar - Zero Waste Week. By now, we hope you’ve heard about our goal to reduce waste in the interiors industry and accelerate the transition to a circular economy for home textiles and accessories. What others see as ‘waste’ - we see as opportunity. A chance to consume differently and make your home beautiful in the process.

We give luxury textiles a second life rather than letting them sit in landfill. By working with some of the top designer brands in the UK, we help rehome their surplus, or waste textiles – offcuts, discontinued rolls, sample pieces and slightly-too-small-for-a-roll leftovers - fabric with potential. With the help of our wonderful community of waste-saving, fabric loving customers, we help show that even the smallest piece of ‘waste’ fabric can be put to good use. Whether it's recovering a headboard, making a lampshade, fixing up a roman blind or reupholstering your favourite antique hand-me-down - we have the fabric for you (at hugely discounted prices too!).

Enough about us - this Zero Waste Week, we’re shining a light on other lovely brands outside of our industry, doing their bit to reduce more, and produce creatively. Even the smallest of steps makes a difference. Two we especially admire:

Kind to Bee's ethos of gentle, thoughtful reuse shines through their honey business. They’re all about raw, unfiltered honey taken ethically from bees, and packaged in recyclable glass jars with care and conscience. It’s a sweet reminder that sustainability isn’t just for fabric – it’s a mindset across craft, food and beyond.

Papersmiths is a stationery treasure trove who share our values when it comes to making beauty functional. Their new collection of wirebound notebooks are designed to tread lighter on the planet, combining thoughtful materials with British craftsmanship. In their latest collection, their book covers feature cloth created from recycled ocean plastic and inside, you’ll find FSC-certified paper that’s fountain pen-friendly, paired with ribbons made from recycled and organic textiles. Thoughtful choices, made to close the loop.

Whether it’s surplus fabric, ocean plastic or small-batch honey, these brands show that waste doesn’t have to be the final chapter. With care, creativity and respect for what already exists, it’s possible to create things that are not only useful and beautiful, but also more mindful.

Together, we’re part of a quiet but growing shift – one that values resourcefulness, reimagines waste, and makes space for design that treads a little lighter.
