Q. William Yeoward has been going for over 40 years. How has your collection evolved during this time to reflect changing trends and customer preferences?
.
A. We began with furniture, driven by the desire to create exquisite pieces that we could not find ourselves or at least didn’t meet our vision. Over the past 40 years, we’ve expanded our offering to include upholstery, rugs, cushions, lighting, and fabric collections. Staying true to our origins has always been essential, but so has embracing modernity. We embody timeless elegance and ensure our collections continually evolve to remain relevant and current - never stuck in the past. Our finishes, colour palettes and styles are informed not just by our brand’s heritage but, more importantly, by the needs of our customers. At the heart of everything we do are our four fundamental values: craftsmanship, quality, comfort, and functionality.

Q. You're known for mastering ‘Modern British’ style. What do you believe are the key elements of this look?
.
A. For us, it’s about striking a balance between honouring the past and embracing the present. Our style combines contemporary flair with classic heritage design. It’s a way of mixing styles and periods that is very British, and it can either be eclectic or harmonious depending on an individual’s take on designing a space. It allows you to continually add things to your home without the constraint of everything having to be one look or entirely new. After all, our homes are a ‘collection’ of things gathered over a lifetime, are they not?

Q. What drew you to working with Haines?
.
A. We fully admire and support Haines’ commitment to reducing waste in the interior design industry by bringing together surplus stock from exceptional British brands all in one place. It’s a brilliant concept! The collaboration between these brands creates incredible synergy, and we’re proud to be featured alongside industry friends like Linwood and Fermoie. Haines is truly a haven for those with an eye for great design and style!
.
Q. What's on the agenda for 2025?
.
There’s so much to look forward to! We are having a ‘tramp art’ moment [a style of woodwork carving that emerged in America in the latter half of the 19th century], with some beautiful new carved pieces of furniture in a greyed oak finish. Keep an eye out for our new ‘Tom’ table lamp - it’s quirky and stylish in equal measure, drawing inspiration from Tom Brown’s Schooldays. Hand block print on cushions and bold geometric patterns will play a significant role in our 2025 collections. And while we’ve always been known for our signature blues, we’re introducing a fresh twist with the softer, elegant hue of duck egg - it will be a key feature next year. 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for us!
