Our charity lampshade auction has now ended - we are thrilled to announce that we have raised over £700 for TP Caring Spaces.
Find out what the charity does and where your generous donations will go in our Q&A with its Founders, interior design duo Bunny Turner and Emma Pocock.

What is the mission of TP Caring Spaces, and what made you start the charity?
As the coronavirus pandemic unfolded, it became a year for much reflection. Like many businesses, at Turner Pocock we found ourselves searching for ways we could help with the effort to support organisations and charities.
An existing client asked Turner Pocock to re-design a family cottage to transform it into a restorative destination for cancer patients and their families. Our remit is simply to find the gaps and use our skills and our network to fill them with great design.

What has been the most rewarding part of starting the charity? Is there a memorable project you've worked on?
Gosh, this is tricky! Starting a charity has been more challenging and time-consuming than we imagined, but the rewards have been wonderful.
From having so many fabulous people and businesses from the world of design and beyond offering their support, to witnessing the joy, excitement and change good design can bring to those charities we have worked with so far.
“We share a deep-seated belief in the power of good design, and it fuels everything we do.”

In their most recent project, TP Caring Spaces worked with Hestia to redesign a living room and playroom within a women’s refuge.
“We were absolutely delighted to be trusted to transform the communal spaces within one refuge and were determined to create a real sense of home for the women and children alike. Comfort, creativity, colour, and entertainment were the top of our lists, alongside practicality. The ladies were so happy to have easy-to-clean surfaces where their children could rest and play, and durable storage facilities for books and toys and art materials.”

How do donations help fund your work?
The funds we raise are crucial. Not everything we need can be sourced for free, and we don’t feel comfortable asking small businesses and craftsmen, such as carpenters and decorators, to donate their time. People have been incredibly generous, but there are considerable outgoings we need to cover for each project.

Let’s talk details…what small thing can make a big difference to a room?
Wallpapering and adding more light.
j
Can you share two of your top interior design ideas for 2023?
Buy antiques to add patina to a room (plus it’s better for the environment!),. Be original and start a scheme with a vintage textile.
