Haines x Lorfords Contemporary

We’ve partnered with bespoke furnishing studio Lorfords Contemporary to create a beautiful loose-cover slipper chair called The Hendal. A neat little seat that features a distinctive scallop skirt and fabric-covered buttons, it’s a versatile accent piece that’s just perfect for reading nooks, nurseries, or positioned as a pair in a sitting room.
A design debut for Lorfords, The Hendal is the epitome of sustainable luxury. With a solid beech wood frame, all-natural inner fillings, and covered in Pomily’s ‘Checkers’ fabric from our Haines Curates collection, each chair is handmade to order by the Lorfords team at their studio in the Cotswolds.

It’s been so interesting to watch this concept being brought to life in the Lorfords workshop,” says Jules. “From the considerations behind the framework and fillings to the little decorative details, it’s a design that shows elegance going hand-in-hand with eco-credentials.”

Nasia de la Haye, MD of Lorfords Contemporary echoes this sentiment, saying, “This design is not only a beautiful piece of artisan upholstery, but it also celebrates the bringing together of brands that are championing how to design and shop with the environment in mind.”

The Hendal slipper chair is available to buy at www.lorfords.com in a range of fabrics from our Haines Curates eco designers, as well as Lorfords’ own Vintage Cloth collection.

It’ll be on display on our stand at Focus/23 at Chelsea Design Centre until 20th September, when it hops over to The Truman Brewery in Shoreditch to sit on the Blue Patch stand at London Design Festival.
