GREEN GRADS was founded and curated by multi-award winning design journalist Barbara Chandler and is an ongoing initiative. The platform celebrates recent UK graduates who have ideas for a greener cleaner future with an innovative mix of “green” products for the home.
Here are just a couple of my favourites, but do check out the website for the full list of amazing graduates and their new crafting techniques.
These graduates were selected from final years 2022 and 2021; the 'lost classes' who in many cases had no final degree shows or exposure.

Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest, Callum Wardle's 'The Ocean Bucket' concept is quite simply beach toys made from ocean waste!

During lockdown Ameera Azami sat in her bedroom and weaved waste such as plastic bags and old clothes into textile fibers, the result is this beautiful weave. Ameera plans to travel to countries such as India and Morocco – “to collaborate with their communities and explore their craft.”

It is estimated that every year 16,000 cheap polystyrene bodyboards are abandoned on Uk beaches, often after a single-use. Rather than going to a landfill, Harry Peck has created a solution with 'Wave Cycle' a sustainable plastic furniture range made from recycled surf and bodyboards.

Mathilde Wittock painstakingly collected old tennis balls from local clubs. Halved with an ingenious S-cut, then slotted into plywood, for a softly textured sound-absorbing screen appropriately called SoundBounce.  Amazing!
