Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest, Callum Wardle's 'The Ocean Bucket' concept is quite simply beach toys made from ocean waste!
During lockdown Ameera Azami sat in her bedroom and weaved waste such as plastic bags and old clothes into textile fibers, the result is this beautiful weave. Ameera plans to travel to countries such as India and Morocco – “to collaborate with their communities and explore their craft.”
It is estimated that every year 16,000 cheap polystyrene bodyboards are abandoned on Uk beaches, often after a single-use. Rather than going to a landfill, Harry Peck has created a solution with 'Wave Cycle' a sustainable plastic furniture range made from recycled surf and bodyboards.
Mathilde Wittock painstakingly collected old tennis balls from local clubs. Halved with an ingenious S-cut, then slotted into plywood, for a softly textured sound-absorbing screen appropriately called SoundBounce. Amazing!
