Tablecloth Top

Tablecloth Top

Last year a lovely customer called Susan got in touch with me and asked if I'd be interested in some 1950s embroidered tablecloths, that had been passed through her family for generations, and of course, I said yes!

About the same time, I bought myself a gorgeous shirt made by the wonderful Lydia Bolton. Lydia is a London based fashion designer who hand-makes and designs items of clothing made from secondhand textiles sourced from thrift stores, charity shops and online! And that's when the light bulb appeared above my head...

Lydia took up the challenge and has created two styles of tops made from the tablecloth material, named Elsie and Hilda, after the family members to who the tablecloths originally belonged too!

One of the best things about my job is finding solutions and breathing new life into unwanted fabrics. Both of Lydia's tops will available to buy on 26 February.
